4 Reasons I'm Using a Discbound Planner Next Year

I’ve got a strong suspicion that 87% of homeschool moms love to plan & organize things. That statistic is 100% made up though!

I am super excited about my planner for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year though and wanted to share it here for anyone who enjoys this stuff like me! This past school year I used the Simple Charlotte Mason Planner from Anna Vance Paper Co. and I really loved it. It was not only beautiful, but also well made with thick pages and a sturdy spiral binding. Plus it included some cute stickers and page markers. I found myself using some parts of the planner completely and other parts not at all. I also had a separate folder I referred to weekly with our lesson plans from A Gentle Feast and never found a great home for that information.

A Truly Customized Planner

The possibilities are endless.

This year I decided to purchase the Minimal Planner PDF from the Anna Vance website and bind it in this disc bound notebook! I am really excited about this set-up for a few reasons.

  1. I have a space to include our lesson plans from A Gentle Feast so that I can easily refer to what we should be reading during any given week of the year. I also printed off the booklist and inserted that for now. The great thing about discbound binders is that you can add and remove pages at any time without the mess of torn paper bits left behind.

  2. I added some papers from our homeschool co-op in one section, including our calendar for the year & class schedule. This allows me to keep all of our important information in one spot. I will also be able to add in additional pages throughout our school year because we have the Arc system puncher. I will be teaching IEW and Draw, Write, Now in our co-op so I could easily include lesson plans or notes for future lessons.

  3. I printed the pages on 28 lb paper so it still has that nice sturdy feel and the pages are less likely to tear. This paper is a perfect weight for my Brother printer because I did not have any problems with it jamming during the printing process and I will also have nice thick pages to write on. I can’t be the only one who appreciates good paper, right?!

  4. I should be able to use the discbound notebooks & planner PDF for at least the next 4 years, maybe longer if the notebook covers hold up well. Then my only expense for a yearly planner would be the cost of the printing paper, so saving money for an awesome planner system is just an added bonus!
